The Duncan Chamber of Commerce, Chisholm Trail Sporting Clays and Duncan Golf and Tennis Club will be hosting the first ever Not So Classic Guns and Golf Tournament later in August.
The event, which is taking place on Aug. 10, is being held as a fundraiser for the Duncan Chamber of Commerce and is advertised as a team competition.
“It’s a new event we are putting on: a four-person scramble, followed by a clay shoot. Using a formula, a winner will be decided,” said Carl Buckholts, Duncan Chamber board president. “That’s an addition to the ‘Not So Classic Golf Tournament’ that we are really excited about and we think is going to be sold out quickly.”
Chris Deal, president and CEO of the Duncan Chamber of Commerce, said it was a guns and golf “type thing” and that Scott Schnelle, Chisholm Trail Sporting Clays operation manager and instructor, has been helping with the event.
“Scott has been nice enough to work with us and it should be a really fun event,” Deal said.
According to Buckholts, the competition is a four person team event, with team registrations costing $750. The cost covers registration for the team, 50 targets on Sporting Clays, lunch following the Sporting Clays event, 18 holes of golf, carts for golfing, 2 golf scramble mulligans per player, and one 19th hole drink card per player. Prizes will be rewarded to the top three teams who have the highest combined team score from clays and golf.
Participants are asked to bring their own gun, golf clubs, shells for 50 target shots, shell carrier or bag, protective eyewear and protection for their ears.
Sponsorships and team registrations are available now, but registration is only available to the first 18 teams who sign up. Check-in for the event begins at 7 a.m. at Chisholm Trail Sporting Clays with donuts and coffee provided.
