Post-Harvest Loss (PHL) has remained a recurring pain in the Sub Saharan African and indeed West and Central African agricultural space. High levels of on-farm Post Harvest Loss coupled with policies outside the sector that directly affect PHL are cause for immediate concern if Africa is to take its pride of place in the global agricultural ecosystem.

There is an urgent need to reverse this trend. In most parts of Africa, fruits and other perishable products are not sold in markets out of season. Whereas these countries produce enough to keep these products on sale all season round.

It is against this backdrop that The Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, an institute under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in conjunction with the Benue State University, the World Bank Africa center of excellence and AgroAfrica, the voice of African Agriculture have put together a congress that will galvanize stakeholders to come up with modern, practical and technology-based solutions to the problem of Post-Harvest Loss in these sub-regions.

The event christened, ‘West and Central Africa Post Harvest Congress and Exhibition’  with the theme ‘Upscaling of Post-Harvest Activities in West and Central Africa’ is set to hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center, Abuja from September 17th-21st, 2018.
