African Property Investment Summit (API), which would be focusing on Anglophone, Francophone and Lusophone countries, has been programmed to explore how best to develop a smarter future for the African real estate
In respect to a statement by the organisers of the summit, there would be hearing from lenders, equity providers, Director Foreign Investors and non African institutional investors on what they are searching for and what it takes for them to provide funding for real estate development in the continent.
Still on funding, at the summit, a look would be taken at potential new pools of capital – securitized solutions, investment funds, REITs, listings and IPOs. They would also be looking at ways to build a business case for housing micro-finance in sub-Saharan Africa.
It was also highlighted that they would seek ways of reducing reliance on foreign capital as well as finding out if Africa’s pension, insurance and social security funds can bridge the funding gap.
