The Agri-Business Committee of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce has planned the Annual Hay Show & Sale for Tuesday, Oct. 23, to be held in the Cherokee County Exposition Center located at 611 SE Loop 456 in Jacksonville. A Dinner, prepared by Gallatin Olde Store Steakhouse will be served at 6 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7 p.m.
The Cherokee County Extension Service collects hay samples from Cherokee County hay producers. These samples are sent to SFA for Crude Protein testing. Hay testing was free for the producers and the top 25 samples of hay will be auctioned during this annual event. Results will be given to the hay producers as well as announcing the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion.
All proceeds benefit the Cherokee County Scholarship Fund. Funds raised during the event provide scholarships for Cherokee County youth in the agriculture programs, to attend college. Over $190,000 has been given through the Cherokee County Scholarship Fund.
