Nigerian Organised Private Sector (OPS) has been thrown into a jubilation mood as the National President of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has been unanimously elected to head the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (FEWACCI).
She emerged during the 6th Annual General Meeting which ended in Abuja this evening.
She succeeded the President of Togo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Essohouna Germain Meba.
In a congratulatory messages the President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, CON., SAN said the victory is well deserved and that Iyalode Lawson will build on the structures put in place by the outgoing administration.
“She is a lady of distinction. A thorough bred. A go getter and a dedicated OPS player of international repute.
“She will use her track records of achievements to build a system that will harmonise the entire West African subregion into a successful economic hub that would become the envy of others.
“With her outstanding wealth of experience and commitment to the chamber movement, she will move mountains for the greater good of the entire economy of the ECOWAS member countries. We are happy and will pray for her success”, Prince Kayode stated.
In his own message, the President of Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Muhammad .M. Jagana said, he has absolute confidence in the ability of Iyalode Lawson to to steer the Federation to lofty heights.
“I received the news of her election as FEWACCI President with tremendous joy. She will surely inject competence, experience, commitment, result oriented touch and selfless service in order to move the economy of the subregion to the next level. I am proud to be associated with her”, he maintained.
In an exclusive chat with Chamber Telegraph, its Publisher and Provost of the Business Entrepreneurial Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre of the ACCI, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba expressed joy with the development.
He said, Iyalode Lawson’s life dedicated to service to humanity, nation and the OPS has earned her global recognition and also accounted for her ascension to this exalted position.
In his words: ” I am overwhelmed with joy today after hearing this news. I want to assure the OPS in the ECOWAS member countries that, a new dynamism will be introduced into handling chamber movement in our respective countries.
“Today has marked a positive turning point in the modus operandi of the way businesses and trade related activities are carries out around West Africa.
“We will give her all the support she needs to succeed in her new position. And with God, the sky will be our stepping stone so far as the chamber movement is concerned”.
FEWACCI is the umbrella body of all the Chambers of Commerce and industry in the 16 west African countries.
