NORTH EAST ENGLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REPLIED NISSAN AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THEIR ACTION ON X-TRAIL
NEECC react to the news that Japanese multinational automobile company Nissan has decided to ditch, plans of establishing one of its models in Sunderland. Nissan Company had the intention of making X-trail model at Sunderland site.
Ramsbotham James, North East England Chamber of Commerce chief executive, said Brexit was making automotive business “harder”.

“The automotive sector in this country is vitally important and needs to be protected. At present there is over-capacity in the EU so businesses like Nissan in Washington need every bit of support to be successful”. Mr Ramsbotham said
Japan and EU has just signed a complex free-trade deal which is solely concerning for our automotive industry.
Representatives from Unite Union are meeting with Nissan executive, to discuss the situation. It’s understood they will be seeking reassurances on jobs and future arrangements at Nissan’s Sunderland site.
