The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and Media Trust Ltd, publishers of Daily Trust newspapers have agree to work closely together to ensure successful hosting of Halal expo in Nigeria.
Explaining the Halal concept to during a visit to top management of the media organisation, the President of the Chamber, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode said the industry is a multi-trillion dollar industry which Nigeria is yet to tap from the immense benefit and maximise its potentials in same.
According to Prince Kayode, the Halal industry cut across body care, pharmaceutical, clothing, food, drink and general way of doing things, the country which has a large population of Muslims is yet to understand the business aspect of it.
“The Halal industry is a multi-trillion dollar sector. Last year, it was worth over $2trillion. In spite of our large Muslim population, we are yet to tap into it for the good of our people. It is a huge area. It is a huge economy. We should key into it.
“The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), is therefore unlocking this door of opportunities by exposing the business potentials that abounds in the sector. This is a huge area and people are excited about it. We are happy to lead the way.
“We have entered into discussions with major players such as Turkey, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates and others critical players. And I want the Media Trust to partner with us. We want to work with you. We also need your support. But I really want us don’t as business”, the President stated.
He also rolled out other areas of expos amounting to 12 that the Chamber is planning in 2020 and solicited the support of the media giant in all of them.
Responding, on behalf of the management team, Nasiru Imam, Assistant Managing Editor of Daily Trust promised to work closely with the Chamber in order to lend publicity support and also explore the business opportunities to jointly work on using the win-win approach.
He also appreciated the giant strides in the chamber noting that, the media outfit is willing and ready to deploy a liaison staff to work on areas of cooperation with the Chamber.
The expo is to hold from 8th-10th June, 2020 at the Abuja International Trade and Convention Centre located on Km8 airport road, Abuja.
