The Grand Patron of the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) Hajia Hauwa Ibrahim Aliyu has bagged the Friend of Thailand Award and Special Recognition.
The award and special recognition were bestowed on her during the DITP of Bangkok Gemstones and Fair.
Hajia Hauwa is widely known as one of the biggest women players in the gemstones mining and marketing industry.
Meanwhile, the Gemstones Miners and Marketers Association of Nigeria (GMMAN) has congratulated Hajia Hauwa, describing the award as deserving and a recognition of hardwork.
The Director General of Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences (NIMG), Prof. Suleiman Bolaji Hassan said, he was not surprised about the award in far away Thailand in view of the track records of achievements Hajia Hauwa has brought to bear on the sector, not only in Nigeria but at the global level.
“This is a worthy recognition. It is coming to the right person and from a country that has shown committed leadership towards the development of the gemstones industry. We rejoice with her on this award. It is an indication of hardwork and commitment”, Prof. Suleiman stated.
The President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, CON., SAN said he received the news with excitement.
“I am excited to receive the news of Award bestowed on Hajia Hauwa. She is a woman of courage who has brought zest, speed and unwavering commitment towards the attainment of the height the gemstones sector has gotten to in Nigeria.
“She is not just a player within the Nigerian shores. Her activities and contributions are felt anywhere gemstones business is discussed. I congratulate her on this worthy recognition in a foreign land”, Prince Kayode said.
The National Coordinator of GMMAN and President of the Gemological Institute of Nigeria (GIN) Prof. Adesoji Adesugba on his part also expressed felicitations with Hajia Hauwa referring to the Award in Thailand as an honour given to whom it is due.
“I stand in solidarity with our own Hajia Hauwa for the wealth of commitment she has shown towards the development of the gemstone industry in Nigeria and beyond.
“She has injected so much energy, competence and mastery of the industry. And that has earned her this award in Thailand.
“Nigeria and indeed all of us in GMMAN movement solidarise with her. We are proud to be associated with the honour she has brought to Nigeria”, Prof. Adesugba emphasized.
