Communication on handling the whistleblower complaint against the President of the AfDB group
Tuesday May 26, the office of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB ) held a meeting to examine the matter arising from a whistleblower complaint against the President of the AfDB, which was dealt with by the ethics committee of the Bank’s Board of Directors and about which I received letters from certain shareholders expressing different points of view.
Following this meeting, several publications in the national and international press were brought to my attention, concerning the content of the deliberations of the said meeting. Which brings me to clarifications to avoid any misunderstanding.
The Office that I preside wishes to reassure the public that it has taken up the matter and that it is treating it with the greatest rigor and with all the seriousness that it deserves. However, the Bureau informs the public that no decision has been made as falsely conveyed in certain publications.
I must point out that there is no institutional crisis within the African Development Bank Group. Above all, in no case that the President of the Bank Group was asked to resign.
Everyone must allow the Office to do its work and let the process of examining this file take its course. The advice of all the governors will be sought for its successful outcome.
The Minister of Planning and Development of the Republic of Côte D’Ivoire.
