-Alerts Of Four Terrorists Camps In Abuja
The Nigeria Customs Service has alerted of the existence of Boko Haram camps in and around the FCT.In a letter dated August 2020 and signed by the Deputy Comptroller, HA Sabo said intelligence reports observed that the sect are planning to attack some selected targets within the FCT.
The letter said the terrorist group are reported to have set up camps in identified enclaves and satellite towns including “Kunyan Bush along airport road off Dia Staff Quarters, Robochi in Gwagwalada Forest, Kwaku Forest, Kuje, Unaisha Forest in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, and Gegu Forest close to Idu Town in Kogi state”.
The Service therefore urged members of the public to be at alert and security conscious of their environment at all times.
Amnesty International in its 2019 Annual Report for Nigeria said Boko Haram continued to carry out attacks, abductions and killings of civilians in the Northeast.
It said armed group carried out at least 31 attacks that resulted in at least 378 civilian deaths. The group also killed at least 16 abducted civilians.
“One of the deadliest attacks was in January when the armed group attacked Rann, killing at least 60 people and displacing more than 9,000 people. Withdrawal of security forces shortly before the attack contributed to massive exodus of civilians from Rann”.
