No fewer than 109 persons lost their lives in road crashes across Ogun state between January and August, 2020 while 665 others sustained different degrees of injuries.
This was contained in a statement by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) issued to newsmen over the weekend by its spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi.
The statement said the state recorded 109 deaths were recorded from 527 road traffic accidents during the period under review which comprised of motorcycle and motor vehicle accidents.
The statement said 83 persons from the 109 deaths recorded were male while 26 were female.
It also said that out of the 665 injured, 487 were male while 178 were female.
The statement also disclosed that 35 persons died from motorcycle accidents while 74 persons died from motor vehicle accidents, adding that the accidents were caused by excessive speeding, dangerous driving, motor users refusing to put on seat belts and wrongful overtaking among others.
