NIPOST Set For Digital Postal Service

The Nigerian Postal Service has concluded plans to run a digital postal service by setting up 10,000 smart outlets nationwide.

NIPOST Post-Master General Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, disclosed this in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, at the weekend while inspecting NIPOST offices in the southwest.

Adewusi said the NIPOST would partner with private sectors to drive digital postal services

He stated: “So, there are lots of things we’re bringing to table to change the face of postal services in Nigeria. We’re going to run a digital postal service.

“These post offices are designed many years ago. When we set up the smart postal offices working with private sectors, we are going to have more than 10,000 of such outlets across the country so that we can bring postal services to the doorstep of the people.

He said: ““NIPOST is going to work with all the agencies of the government where they can do a lot of transactions. You’re supposed to walk into post office to collect your international passport, obtain your driver’s license and capture your national identity card images.

“We also want to run smart offices. We discovered that our outlet offices are in bad shape. The structures are dilapidated. This is not good for our image at all. “We’ll introduce newly technology platforms to run NIPOST. We have licences to do international payment transaction working with western union.”
