The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has postponed the launch of its planned 2020, Abuja Auto Show tagged “Gallery Mobile Dealer Auction (GAMDA)” to the 11th of November 2020.

Director-General of the Chamber, Victoria Akai, announced this at a joint press briefing with the National President of the Association of Motor Dealers Of Nigeria (AMDON) Prince Ajibola Adedoyin, and CEO of Western Atlantic, Dr Ade Akinfolurin in Abuja on Friday.

The Chamber said it was collaborating with Western Atlantic Corporation in Organizing the first Auto Dealer Auction in Nigeria aimed at promoting the business of all the Auto Dealers within the FCT and Abuja.

She stated that the Gallery Mobile Dealer Auction was organised specifically to support the activities and operations of the Auto Dealers within the FCT by providing the platform and enabling environment for their businesses to thrive exponentially.

The Show which was earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday 17th October 2020, according to the DG, will Kickstart from the 11th of November 2020, and would take place on the 2nd week of every month between Wednesdays and Fridays.

“The Chamber understands and appreciates the impact of these various Auto Dealers in our community, without whom many of us will be jumping Abuja Taxis and Buses since only few can afford the price of brand new vehicles in the country.

“It is in appreciation of the role of these Auto Dealers that we have extended our hands of fellowship to the Motor Dealer’s Association of Abuja, represented by their Chairman Alhaji Adamu Damisa.

“The Dealer Auction will enhance the liquidity of the Dealers through improved sales orchestrated by the Auction facility. Since this is not a one off opportunity, the Dealers are guaranteed continuous support and increase productivity and profitability on a monthly basis” she said.

The DG also stated that there will be two auctions this year, one in November and the Second in December while the second stage of operation will commence from January 2021 when the Auto Online Auction will commence.

“This will provide the opportunity for the virtual fair. This will further expand the sales opportunity of Dealers within the FCT as there will be buyers from all over in the country that will make use of the platform that we provide for this purpose. The aim of online auction is to further simplify the way and manner businesses are conducted,” it added.

Also speaking, the AMDON National President – Prince Ajibola Adedoyin said the association of auto dealers associations have over 700 registered auto dealers within the FCT adding that with the organization of the auction, it will encourage the cash flow of dealers whose businesses have been struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
