President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Al-Mutjaba Abubakar stated this on Tuesday during a meeting with the delegation of the Liberian Embassy led by the Ambassador of Liberia, H. E Prof Al-Hassan Conteh at the council Secretariat in Abuja.

Dr Al-Mutjaba who was represented by the 1st Deputy President of the Chamber, Chief Emeka Obegolu expressed delight at the visit by the Ambassador.

He stated that the visit presents an opportunity for Nigerian business community to collaborate with Liberia to deepen the interest of both countries in the areas of poverty eradicating poverty and creating job opportunities.

He emphasized that there was no way poverty eradication or creation of job opportunities will be achieved without the culture of intra-African trade “and I believe that part of why you are here is to design a forum where we can promote and sustain intra-African trade”.

He informed the gathering about the developmental strides the Chamber has recorded in recent years to include the adoption of all the centers as national Centers by the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Mines, Industry and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

“We also do bilateral trade promotion, we promote trade visit to different countries. I believe that the only way our currencies can have value and arrest the exportation of funds to European countries is by these kinds of collaborations” he said.

“As much as possible ACCI stands shoulder to shoulder with Liberian embassy and people of Liberia in promotion of trade between both countries that have established friendship over the years.

” We recall that Nigeria and Liberia are both founding members of ECOWAS and it is in line with the spirit of ECOWAS that trade exists amongst member countries. Count us as your business associate and we look forward to learning more about your proposal. You are welcome your excellency” he said.

While responding the H. E Prof Al-Hassan Conteh informed the Chamber leadership that both countries enjoy excellent relations as evidenced by the cordial bilateral partnership in the development, security and regional affairs.
