CIS Appoints Adesoji Adesugba to Advocacy and Policy Committee
The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) has appointed Professor Adesoji Adesugba, ACS, to its Advocacy and Policy Committee for the 2026–2028 tenure, drawing on his experience in investment promotion, public policy and private-sector advocacy.
The appointment was approved by the Institute’s Governing Council at its meeting on September 3, 2026, and communicated in a letter dated October 5, signed by its Registrar and Chief Executive, Ayorinde Ezekiel Adeonipekun.
According to the letter, Adesugba will contribute to achieving the Institute’s mandate and support, facilitate and advance the implementation of Governing Council policies. The Institute said his selection recognised his professional expertise, leadership qualities and contributions to its activities.
The committee is chaired by Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, FCS, with Babawale Jonathan Agbeyangi, FCS, as vice-chairman. It was inaugurated virtually on September 7 by the CIS President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Fiona Nyako Ahimie, FCS.
Adesugba, a chartered stockbroker and Associate of the Institute, brings experience spanning public administration, investment facilitation, economic development and business representation.
An alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he studied public policy implementation, he has worked at the intersection of policy formulation and practical delivery. His career includes service as a Director at the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA).
At NIPC, his work involved investment promotion and engagement on policies affecting Nigeria’s investment environment. At NEPZA, which he led from July 2020 to October 2023, he oversaw initiatives aimed at strengthening the administration and development of special economic zones. These included institutional capacity building, investor facilitation and dispute-resolution arrangements.
That experience provides a relevant foundation for the committee’s work, particularly in connecting investment policy with the operating concerns of businesses and investors.
Adesugba is First Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and a National Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). Through these roles, he participates in private-sector advocacy and engagement with government on enterprise development, investment and economic policy.
He is also a Fellow of the National Policy Advocacy Centre and a thematic leader at the African Policy Research Consortium. A lawyer and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom, he brings legal and dispute-resolution experience to policy deliberations.
His work extends to investment education and economic journalism. He founded and moderates Naija Investment House, an educational platform focused on investing in the Nigerian capital market, including equities listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
He also founded Chamber Telegraph in 2017. The publication covers economic development, business and chamber-of-commerce activities, and carries his articles on investment and the Nigerian economy.
His appointment brings together these strands of experience, combining professional capital-market knowledge with public-sector leadership, policy advocacy and investor education, in support of the Institute’s mandate.
