NBTI Showcases Technology Enterprises, Opens Market Opportunities at Abuja Trade Fair.
ABUJA, October 2, 2026 — The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) is leveraging the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair to promote technology-based enterprises and create new market opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovators operating under its incubation programme.
The Board, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and it’s headed by Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji the Director General/CEO. NBTI is exhibiting a range of locally developed products produced by entrepreneurs linked to its Technology Incubation Centres across Nigeria.
Speaking at the trade fair, the NBTI Acting Director Commercial, Mr. Ibigbami Bamidele Joshua, said the exhibition was designed to expose incubated technology-driven businesses to a wider market and facilitate connections with prospective customers, distributors, investors and other business partners.
Mr Bamidele explained that many of the products on display were developed by entrepreneurs at the Board’s Technology Incubation Centres but had yet to secure sufficient access to major retail outlets and supermarkets.
He said participation in the trade fair provides an opportunity for the entrepreneurs to take their products directly to consumers and bulk buyers, allowing potential customers to assess the products while creating avenues for commercial partnerships.
According to him, the DG/CEO, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji strongly believes that increased market exposure is critical to helping technology-based enterprises build sustainable businesses, expand their customer base and establish stronger market linkages. He stated that Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji instituted a programme known as the NextGen Innovation Challenge to harness the talents and technological capabilities of Nigerian youths in the area of innovation and technology development and ensuring their Commercialization. On an annual basis, submissions are requested from Nigerians all over the Country out of which the best are selected and taken to the UK to meet with global investors for investment opportunities and full Commercialization.
The NBTI is responsible for supporting technology-based enterprises through an incubation framework that provides an enabling environment for entrepreneurs and innovators to develop, refine and commercialise their ideas and products.
Through its network of Technology Incubation Centres, the Board also promotes indigenous technology, value addition and collaboration among technology developers, entrepreneurs, investors and providers of technical expertise.
Bamidele noted that entrepreneurs undergo various stages of support within the incubation system before eventually graduating to operate independently in the wider business environment. He then used the opportunity to extend the DG/CEO’s invitation to the general public on the NextGen Innovation Challenge grand Finale coming up at Platinum Suite, Excel exhibition Centre, London , UK on 9th October, 2026.
The Technology Incubation Centres therefore serve as key platforms for implementing the Board’s enterprise development and innovation initiatives, particularly by helping entrepreneurs move from product development to commercialisation.
The NBTI’s participation in the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair underscores the role of trade exhibitions as platforms for linking emerging enterprises with consumers, investors and potential business partners.
For the participating entrepreneurs, the exhibition offers an avenue to increase product visibility, receive market feedback, develop business relationships and explore opportunities for expanding their operations.
Visitors to the trade fair can also engage with the entrepreneurs and discover a range of locally developed technology-based products, potentially opening the door to new commercial relationships and partnerships.
