Eid-Maulud: ACCI President Calls on Muslims to Embrace Prophet Muhammad’s Virtues for Economic Development.
The President of the Abuja Chamber of and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and across Nigeria as they commemorate Eid-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Chief Obegolu described the celebration as an opportunity for Muslims and Nigerians at large to reflect on the virtues demonstrated by the Prophet, including peace, honesty, compassion, discipline, justice, hard work and service to humanity.
He urged Muslim faithful to uphold these values in their daily lives, businesses, workplaces and communities. According to him, the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) offer important lessons in integrity, trust, diligence and responsible leadership—qualities that are vital to building a productive society and a stronger, more resilient economy.
The ACCI President stressed that Eid-Maulud should extend beyond celebration and festivities by inspiring renewed dedication to values that promote peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship and national development.
As the leader of the organised private sector in Abuja and its environs, Chief Obegolu emphasised the important role of the Muslim community in driving economic growth in the FCT and Nigeria as a whole. He encouraged Muslim entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and business owners to invest in productive ventures, create jobs, support local businesses and contribute to the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).He noted that increased entrepreneurship and investment would broaden the economic base of the FCT while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for Nigerians.
Chief Obegolu also encouraged Muslim business leaders and other members of the faith to embrace innovation, technology, skills development and value addition as key drivers of economic prosperity. He emphasised the need for Nigerians to build sustainable businesses, develop human capital, promote locally made products and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s tax revenue and economic growth.
He reaffirmed that ACCI remains committed to providing businesses with opportunities to network, access markets and investment opportunities, engage policymakers and contribute to policies that create a more competitive and business-friendly environment.
The ACCI President further called for stronger collaboration among religious leaders, the business community, government and other stakeholders in tackling challenges that hinder economic development, particularly unemployment, poverty and insecurity. He noted that peaceful and secure communities are essential for businesses to thrive and urged Muslim faithful to continue promoting tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, irrespective of religious, ethnic or other differences.
Chief Obegolu wished Muslim faithful across the FCT and Nigeria a peaceful and joyous Eid-Maulud celebration. He prayed that the occasion would renew the nation’s commitment to peace, unity, ethical leadership and economic prosperity.
He further urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by becoming agents of positive change in their families, workplaces and communities.
The ACCI President reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to working with government, the private sector, religious organisations and other stakeholders towards building a stronger private sector, a more vibrant economy and a more prosperous Nigeria.
