CICAN Delegation Visits ACCI 1st Deputy President Adesugba Ahead of 20th Anniversary
The 1st Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, has received a three-man delegation of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) ahead of the association’s 20th anniversary celebration.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of CICAN, Mr Gabriel Kumo, and included the Secretary of the Association, Mr Matthew Ayoola, and Mrs Lucy Ogalue.
The visit was part of preparations for CICAN’s 20th anniversary, scheduled for October 20, 2026, in Abuja, with the theme: “FG’s $1 Trillion Economy: Roles of Policymakers, Stakeholders and Media in Its Actualisation.”
Speaking during the courtesy visit, the CICAN Chairman said the association considered Prof. Adesugba’s extensive experience in trade, investment and the media particularly relevant to the theme of the anniversary lecture.
He said CICAN was bringing together key stakeholders, including government officials, heads of agencies and industry players, to commemorate two decades of the association’s contribution to economic and business reporting as well as national development.
Mr Kumo formally presented a letter notifying Prof. Adesugba of his selection as the Guest Speaker and an award recipient at the anniversary event.
Responding, Prof. Adesugba warmly received the delegation and recalled his longstanding engagement with the media and journalism profession, noting that he had been involved in various media and publishing activities since the 1980s.
He acknowledged the important role of journalists and professional media associations in providing credible information that supports economic development and enhances public understanding of economic issues.
Prof. Adesugba congratulated CICAN on attaining its 20th anniversary and commended the association for its contribution to economic and business reporting in Nigeria.
He pledged his support for the anniversary and expressed his commitment to making time to attend the event and deliver the anniversary lecture.
